90% of feeds we've audited across 20+ brands have title optimization gaps. Not minor issues - structural problems that bleed impressions, tank click-through rates, and hand money to competitors who figured this out first.
Most accounts score 45-65 out of 100 on our full title scoring system. A 25-point improvement correlates with 30-50% more impression share on target queries.
This quick assessment covers the 3 highest-impact dimensions out of 5. Pick your top 5 products by revenue. Score each one. You'll know in 10 minutes exactly where your titles are losing you money.
Google Shopping truncates your product titles at approximately 70 characters in most placements - desktop grid, mobile results, and the Shopping tab. Everything after character 70 is invisible to most shoppers.
We call this Zone 1. The first 70 characters determine whether Google even shows your product for relevant searches. Characters 71-110 are Zone 2 (visible in expanded views). Characters 111-150 are Zone 3 (adds context, should end with your brand name).
You have 150 characters total. Most merchants use 30-50% of that space. That's like renting a billboard and leaving half of it blank.
For each of your 5 titles, answer these two questions:
Q1: Is your primary keyword in the first 70 characters?
Q2: Is the keyword in the first 30 characters?
Max score per title: 10 points
Common mistake: Brand name first. "AEYLA Premium Memory Foam Pillow" burns 27 characters on the brand before the keyword appears. Move the brand to Zone 3: "Memory Foam Pillow For Side Sleepers - Cooling Gel Support - AEYLA." The keyword is now front-loaded where Google weighs it most.
Q1: How many characters is your title?
Q2: Does your title end with " - Brand Name"?
Max score per title: 10 points
Real example: "Bamboo Cutting Board" is 20 characters. After rewrite to "Organic Bamboo Cutting Board Set 3-Piece With Juice Groove Antimicrobial Kitchen Chopping Block For Meat Vegetables Bread - HomeChef" it's 131 characters. Conversions went from 34/month to 66/month within 8 weeks. Same product. More words doing more work.
Apply these 3 rules to each title:
Rule 1: Can you picture it? Bad: "Premium Quality Best Organic Dog Food" - what does this look like? Good: "Freeze-Dried Raw Salmon Dog Food For Small Breeds 2lb Bag" - clear image.
Rule 2: Can you prove it? Bad: "Best Quality Top Rated Amazing Running Shoes" - nothing verifiable. Good: "4mm Drop Lightweight Running Shoes 7.2oz Carbon Plate" - specific specs.
Rule 3: Could only your brand say it? Bad: "Premium Men's Watch With Quality Craftsmanship" - any brand could. Good: "Swiss Automatic Chronograph 100M Water Resistant Sapphire Crystal - Tissot"
Max score per title: 10 points
Banned words that score automatic zero on execution: premium, best quality, top rated, high quality, amazing, incredible, revolutionary, shop now, buy today, great deals, ultimate, perfect. These words add zero SEO value and signal lazy copy to both Google and shoppers.

| 25-30 | Strong | Your top titles are well-optimized. Check the rest of your catalog for consistency. |
| 18-24 | Average | You're competitive but leaving impression share on the table. Rewrite your lowest scorers. |
| 10-17 | Weak | Your titles are actively losing you money. Category-level rewrite needed. |
| Below 10 | Critical | Stop increasing Shopping spend until titles are fixed. |
Skincare (Score: 8 to 27) Before: "Glow Serum - Vitamin C - 30ml" After: "Vitamin C Brightening Face Serum 20% L-Ascorbic Acid Anti-Aging Dark Spot Treatment For All Skin Types 1oz - GlowCo" Result: CTR on "vitamin c serum" queries went from 1.1% to 2.1% in 4 weeks.
Electronics (Score: 10 to 26) Before: "TechPro Wireless Earbuds - Black - Bluetooth" After: "Wireless Earbuds With Active Noise Cancelling 40-Hour Battery Bluetooth 5.3 IPX5 Waterproof In-Ear Headphones For Running - TechPro" Result: Impression share on "wireless earbuds" went from 11% to 16% in 6 weeks.
Pet Supplies (Score: 7 to 25) Before: "Premium Quality Best Dog Bed - Large - Orthopedic" After: "Orthopedic Dog Bed For Large Breeds 40x30 Inch Memory Foam Joint Support Removable Washable Cover Anti-Slip Bottom For Dogs 50-90 Lbs - PawRest" Result: CTR went from 1.8% to 2.4% in 4 weeks.
The pattern is consistent: front-load the keyword, use all 150 characters, replace generic claims with specific attributes. Every rewrite follows the same principles.
This quick assessment covers 3 of 5 dimensions. The Google Ads AI Agentic System ($4,997+) adds two more:
Originality - Are your titles triggering Google's near-duplicate detection? Templates feel efficient but they make your variants compete against each other. One skincare merchant saw +139% organic Shopping revenue after eliminating templates.
Relevance - Does your title match buyer intent at their funnel stage? A BOFU title needs different language than a TOFU title. The full scorecard includes funnel-specific title strategies for each stage.
The full system also includes 10 before/after rewrites with measured results, industry-specific title formulas for 4 verticals, the banned phrase checklist, and action plans by score tier.
Your titles are the single highest-impact element in your Shopping feed. If you fix nothing else, fix your titles first.
